What if the design process was one of the best parts of your project? It’s possible, and that’s where we come in. At Lookout, we strive to make the immersive experience of the design discovery, distillation and envisioning process as enjoyable as the final product.
As designers we whole heartedly believe in the power of spaces to transform your daily lives because its the experience you have within the space that makes it a transformative place, entrenched in emotion and memory. We are all about creating joyful, intentional experiences with you and for you in the realized project.
ONBOARDING
Our process begins with a combination of a questionnaire, consultation and proposal to gauge if we’re the right fit for one another. In this process, we’re beginning to get a sense of your desires, aesthetics, lifestyle, and general vibe. This onboarding continues with in-depth conversations and on-site observations to build an intimate project understanding and trusting relationship as we dive into the design process.
CONCEPT DESIGN + DESIGN DOCUMENTATION
The design exploration may take many forms: site reconnaissance diagrams and sketches, illustrative plan and elevations, hand drawn or rendered perspectives, seasonal color diagrams, and physical models. These graphic tools are utilized in an iterative process to communicate and explore opportunities with our clients. Hardscape and plant material options are brought into the fold and we start to get a feel of the tactile character of the spaces. We may be visiting the stone yard, lumber yard or local nursery to gather the palette of the project and envision it within the project site. Once all the elements of the project are solidifed and all parties agree on the final design, the contractors are engaged to prepare bids for client review.
CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION + OBSERVATION
We are hands-on designers, and continue to be engaged and designing/building throughout the construction process as desired. We work with professional, collaborative contractors that deliver beautiful final projects with a tailored approach to each unique site/project. We are on the job site throughout construction to ensure that the installation reflects our collaborative vision, all plants are healthy and materials look sharp.
PROJECT CLOSE + HAND OFF
We continue to spend time with you throughout the following seasons to relay the specifics of your garden and best practices for ease of maintenance so that both humans and plants can rest and thrive. These realized landscapes are one-of-a-kind labors of love that will grow with you, nourish you and yours for the years to come and inspire a little wonder along the way.
