We all deserve well crafted and well loved places that nourish, inspire and ground us.
We work with respect for client input, regionality and site specificity, while trying new things and always remaining playful and curious. We aim to manifest spaces that speak to place and invite exploration, enriched with colors, textures and warmth.
We welcome a flexible and dynamic (and sometimes a little messy!) design process, as collaboration and conversation help us create the most functional, inviting spaces that meet your needs and make you want to stay a while.

Lookout is currently focusing on residential and small-scale commercial, institutional and not-for-profit work.
Diverse projects require different approaches depending on size, scope, budget and need so we’ve got a variety of options:
commercial / professional / not for profit
The Works
The descriptions here feel very homeowner focused.. how do we tailor it to appeal to architects, developers, etc?? Do we highlight our ethos more that the top and gear that toward professionals who already understand what we are saying below? and then label these two categories more for homeowners?? Or do we make the whole thing less detailed so it pertained to everyone and just put the consultation in a section for homeowners?? A tailored, full-service design experience where you can lean on our expertise to guide you through the entire design and construction process. This complete package will take us from site analysis to finished construction documents and installation oversight. We will begin with onsite meetings to discuss project scope, design program and client vision, and go from there. Our design process will include onsite observation, conversation and sketching, site inventory and analysis, schematic concept drawings, design development, complete site plants including materials, hardscape and planting plans, and if needed, grading plans and construction details. When we’re done you’ll have everything you need for our recommended contractors to install your project. We’ll regularly be onsite once construction is underway and continue to be involved as your project grows in to help guide your maintenance regimen. Depending on the project, this design package can range from a few months to a few years.
PRO BONO
We reserve a portion of our design hours to provide pro bono services to not-for-profit and community organizations in need. We’d be happy to talk further to see if we are aligned. Please reach out, we’d love to hear from you.

CONSULTATION
The initial step in conceptualizing your project process, goals and possibilities. This is where we like to begin most projects with the intention of moving forward with an immersive design. For about an hour, we will walk your property with you and talk through broad vision, design ideas, program and scope. We will answer any questions you may have and gather the information we need to provide you with a detailed design proposal. If you’re unsure about the direction of your future project and would just like to get to know us, our process, and our thoughts about your landscape, this is also the option for you.
$250/hr
We can also expand the consultation process for the DIYers where all of our work is done onsite. We will work collaboratively with you for to talk and sketch through design ideas and plant + materials options. We will check out your existing conditions, discuss site constraints and opportunities, answer all the questions you can throw at us and help you envision the possibilities for your project. No strings attached! Let’s get creative and see where our onsite collaboration takes us. This option is great for folks on a budget who have some knowledge of plants, a good sense for what they’re after and the muscle to make it happen. We ask that you be present for the entire session to take notes, sketch, measure and engage with us. It’s really fun.
